Long before Marvel's next superhero flick Doctor Strange even went into production, the studio was receiving some flack for casting Tilda Swinton in the role of the Ancient One.
The problem several people had with the actress was that the role was not only traditionally a male character, but Asian as well!
While we LOVED the trailer for Strange that gave us our first glimpse of Swinton's character, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, there still fans who are a bit upset and claimed Tilda's casting was another example of cultural appropriation of Asian characters.
That's why the Chronicles of Narnia actress decided to address the controversy at a screening of A Bigger Splash, as she told The Hollywood Reporter:
Our hearts just grew three sizes!
On Wednesday during Illumination Entertainment's CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, the studio showed off some footage from their upcoming movies and made a pretty big announcement — Benedict Cumberbatch will be the new Grinch!
That's right, the studio is making an animated version of the classic Dr. Seuss children's book How the Grinch Stole Christmas and the Sherlock actor will be voicing the iconic green meanie!
The film, which will simply be titled The Grinch, will be produced by the same studio that made Despicable Me and Minions and is set to be released November 10, 2017.
Of course the last person to play the curmudgeonly character was Jim Carrey in the 2000 Ron Howard-directed live action version. Not only was the film a success, scoring $345 million worldwide, but it also won an Oscar for Best Makeup.
What do you think about Benedict voicing the Grinch?!
Every day we're getting more and more excited as we get closer to the release of Captain America: Civil War!
Well thanks to Jimmy Kimmel, we've gotten some more information and clips from the upcoming superhero flick than ever this week!
For Wednesday night's show, Jimmy had Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, and Emily VanCamp stop by to show a new clip that has Scarlett Johansson and RDJ getting their butts totally handed to them! Oh, and the stars also talk some Civil War.
PLUS Robert dishes on Tom Holland as the new Spider-Man — and his former movie love interest Marisa Tomei being one HOT Aunt May!

Whoa, did we just get incepted??
Because we suddenly have the idea we need to see this movie!
This looks like nothing we've ever seen from a superhero movie, and frankly that's pretty astounding at this point!
We're only a few weeks away from what's sure to be the next EPIC Marvel movie in Captain America: Civil War, but the studio has another superhero flick coming out later this year — Doctor Strange!
Well all that's going to change when we get the FIRST trailer for Doctor Strange when Cumberbatch stops by Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday night.
But before that, the world has been gifted the first official poster featuring the Sorcerer Supreme (below)!
Once the first official image of the Sorcerer Supreme was released by Entertainment Weekly, we knew the studio found the PERFECT man for the job.
Last week, we got even MORE pics of Cumberbatch as he and costar Chiwetel Ejiofor were spotted in New York filming an action sequence for the superhero flick.
Well apparently the Sherlock star wasn't ONLY working in the Big Apple as he stopped by a local comic book shop, JHU Comic Books, to surprise them in between takes — in full costume!
The store took to Facebook to share an image with Benedict (below):
Well these were fun photos to come across on Saturday!
Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor were spotted in New York City filming scenes for Marvel's upcoming flick Doctor Strange — and the pair was working hard for it!
