We love Chris Daughry. He tells it like it is!

One of the most successful American Idol alums in years, the rocker is now trashing the show which made him famous, but premiered Tuesday night to disappointing numbers.

"I feel like [American Idol] it’s definitely lacking some credibility at this point,” Daughtry tells Rolling Stone. “It’s in a state of decline and if they don’t do something about it, it’s probably not gonna last too much longer. I’m sure that’ll be used against me, but that’s the truth, you know? People get tired of seeing people that suck,” he says. “It’s funny at first, but come on. They spend three weeks on people that can’t sing, and that’s what they’re banking it on. [They should] find some people that you can really invest in.”

We're half-way through the year already, can you believe it????

Of all the people to release albums this year it was an American Idol castoff who scored the biggest hit.

Chris Daughtry, who came in fourth last year, has the biggest selling record in the U.S. in 2007 so far.

With over three million albums moved, he's way outsold Idol winner Taylor Hicks, whose career is almost over, and runner-up Katharine McPhee, who is resorting to posing for the cover of Stuff magazine.

Daughtry's album has also been certified triple platinum. It is the fifth best-selling digital release of all time and the fastest-selling rock debut in the 16-year history of the Billboard album chart's sales tracking system.

Congrats to the underdog!
