Glee has always supported charities throughout its three year run.
Each cast member continues to help others in need and the cast works on individual charities.
Jane Lynch is an avid supporter of L.A's Gay and Lesbian Center and has received their Rand Schrader Distinguished Achievement Award.
Lea Michele is a spokesperson for PETA as well as an activist in gay rights groups.
Matthew Morrison is involved with the Grammy Foundation and said the following on Glee's charitable work:
Many of the actors on the show are the direct result of arts education programs, and speaking for myself, I would not be where I am today without these programs.
The Grammy Foundation’s programs in schools across the country are so important because with budget cuts these days, arts programs are often the first ones to be axed. These programs are critical for children’s education and development, and that’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about this charity.
Keep up the good work, Glee!
Fox recently announced that 100 percent of the profits from Glee's Do They Know It's Christmas cover will go to the Band Aid Trust.

In her upcoming memoir, Happy Accidents, Jane Lynch shares the details on her journey to a happier, healthier, and sober lifestyle with wife Lara Embry.
Although the Glee star initially kicked booze in 1991 at 31, she describes a dependance on NyQuil cough syrup, writing:
“I did, however, continue my habit of taking NyQuil before bed. Though no longer drinking Miller Lite, I was still in need of something to soothe me. The fact that NyQuil had alcohol in it was not something I acknowledged at all. I still considered myself on the wagon.”
Her addiction grew more severe when she moved to New York City to play Carol Brady on stage in The Real Live Brady Bunch, continuing:
“[The show] ran for 10 months at the Village Gate, and I was miserable the whole time. I’d close the drapes of my tiny room, take a swig of NyQuil, toast with a simple ‘Bye-bye,’ and go into a deep sleep.”
Ultimately, Jane's time on the show finally opened up her eyes enough to see her problem. After getting way too high with her castmates, she entered Alcoholics Anonymous for support. She wrote about the life-chaning moment, saying:
"I smoked myself into oblivion that night. I still felt like crap and even lonelier than I had felt before.”
So sad to hear that Jane had to go through this, but the fact that she was able to find enough strength to ask for help only makes us respect her more! She is such an inspiration!
