Jane Lynch is continuing to speak out following Mark Salling‘s shocking death.
As we previously reported, the Glee alum died of an apparent suicide this week, about a month ahead of his prison sentencing for his child porn case (which he plead guilty to back in December). Despite his obvious demons, Salling’s peers weighed in on this tragedy by asking fans to respect the controversial actor’s loved ones by withholding any cruel comments.

Upon first learning the news, Lynch also added that this whole situation was “tragic and very sad.” She further addressed Mark’s suicide during a conversation with Us Weekly at the Adopt the Arts’ Annual Rock Gala on Wednesday. The celebrated comedienne relayed:

“It’s been tough. He was a troubled, troubled guy, and he always was. This is a very sad end to it, but I know that he’s at peace now. He’s in the arms of a beneficent force.”

As Jane starred with Mark on Ryan Murphy‘s hit Fox comedy for years, we’re sure this hasn’t been an easy time. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress continued:

“I know life was very, very hard for Mark. I think we all do the best we can at the end of the day. I know Mark that did the best he could.”

Although they worked together for a lengthy period of time, Jane never became super close with Mark or his family. She noted:

“He was a hard guy to get to know.”

Nonetheless, Jane knows Mark loved being a part of the Glee family. On one Mark related memory, Jane recalled:

“He took videos of the stages and everything. He was so happy to be coming to work, to be on the show. He wrote a song and videotaped his day being on Glee. Driving into the Paramount lot ├óΓé¼┬ª at that time he was living on a cot in a little room. It was a big jump for him in his career, and also, he had a job and was in with this group of really great kids. I think he knew that he was breathing rarefied air. There was so much joy and happiness in his musical video that he shot for himself. Fox made him take it down. But it was a sweet, beautiful expression of his joy and being in Glee.”

We’re certain Mark’s loved ones appreciate the kind words Jane has shared about the disgraced star. If you, or a loved one, is combatting suicidal thoughts please call the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
