A new study just confirmed for us what we all most likely could've guessed anyway…

Diabetes is on the rise in the U.S.!

Some of the most dramatic spikes were in the South and

Omega-3 and omega-6 fats are important for health, but so is the ratio. An imbalance of too much omega-6 compared to omega-3 is common in the American diet and can increase your risk of diabetes and heart disease. Try to get more omega-3s through flax seeds, hemp seeds and fish oil.

This isn't good news in the slightest: half of all Americans will get heart disease. It's already the leading killer, why can't we just catch a break?

Oh yeah, it's because we're lazy.

This latest analysis considers the lifetime risk for all cardiovascular diseases, a category that includes coronary artery disease (whose symptoms are most often heart attack and angina) along with strokes, congestive heart failure, and more — something that really hasn't been done before. Usually, the analysis is limited to one disease, and a short period of time.

Here are the results:

7UP Being Sued Over Antioxidant Claim

7up-sued-antioxidant

So, have you seen that Cherry 7UP? Have you noticed how the label says it has antioxidants?

Well, it's tricking you into thinking it's healthy, of course. Why not? Why not lie to consumers just to make more money? Morals are dumb!

The soda's maker, Dr Pepper Snapple Group, is getting sued for making false health claims — because the drinks contain not a single drop of fruit juice and only a "small amount" of added vitamin E. That vitamin E has no antioxidant qualities.

Here's what the lawsuit is arguing:

Is Red Wine Only Healthy For Obese Women?

This would be kind of a bummer for average and below-average weight ladies out there: it's looking like red wine is only really healthy for the obese. That doesn't mean that red wine is bad for you, however!

Just neutral.

What sucks is that this goes against a lot of what we've heard. We've heard that it's great for mobility, your brain, and cancer prevention. Basically, Resveratrol, the red wine component shown to be helpful in improving metabolic function in obese or diabetic people, has no discernible effect on healthy women who are not obese. Let's hope those antioxidants still work!

Here's what they found:

Eat A Lot Of Protein? It Might Be Helping You Lose Weight!

high-protein-diet-weight-loss

Are you the kind of person who eats meals and snacks that are high in protein?

Fab! You might be losing more weight than those who eat less protein and more carbs — this isn't really new information, though, because isn't Atkins based on this idea? We guess it's more of a confirmation!

During the study of an average of 12 weeks, people assigned at random to a high-protein diet lost about 1.8 extra pounds, and more body fat, than those assigned to a standard-protein diet. What didn't change was the participants' blood pressure, cholesterol levels or markers for diabetes risk.

The difference is kiiiiiiinda small, but it could be the exact edge you've been looking for!
