This is so sweet and real!

Caitlyn Jenner was nervous before her ESPYS speech last week for a lot of reasons, but one of the biggest fears she had walking on the stage wasn't how she looked, or how she'd be received — it was whether or not she could even read the speech!

Jenner opened up about it in her ongoing The Real Me series, discussing her childhood dealing with dyslexia and how difficult it was for her to read and speak publicly when so many other people take those skills for granted.

John Travolta Oscar Jokes Rudely Make Fun Of His Dyslexia? But Scientologists Don't Believe In Dyslexia!

Filed under: John TravoltaTom CruiseOscarsHealthIdina MenzelGIFs

john travolta gets it wrong

John Travolta mangling Idina Menzel's name was one of the most meme-worthy moments of the 2014 Oscars.

But in the few hours since the broadcast, there has been some backlash against the Adele Dazeem jokes.

According to critics, John's flub was a result of his dyslexia, and it's not nice to tease someone for a learning disability. That's bullying!

While we whole-heartedly agree that mocking someone's learning disability is insensitive and uncalled for, here's the thing- John doesn't claim to be dyslexic. In fact, according to Scientology he can't have the reading disorder- because dyslexia isn't even real!

Yeah, we're not really getting that one either. Luckily, lead Xenu expert and former dyslexic Tom Cruise explains it all in this video …AFTER THE JUMP!!!

The Queen Honors The Fonz!

Henry Winkler Fonz OBE Honor

HEEEYYYYYY! CONGRATS, FONZ!

For all of Henry Winkler's work touring schools in the U.K., talking to children about dyslexia, doing his best in the effort to prevent bullying, and writing children's books on the subject, the Queen has rewarded him.

Through appointment, Henry is now an honorary OBE at the British embassy in Washington D.C.!

The Fonz was super surprised and, as aways, graciously humble with the honor. He even snapped a picture of the pin to tweet!

Aww, Fonz, way to be one of the best guys ever. Don't ever go away, okay??

Henry Winkler Uses His Dyslexia As Inspiration

Winkler And His Dyslexia

Unfortunately, Henry Winkler has dyslexia. He has dyslexia — has his whole life — but only found out after they tested his son when he was three.

So he spent his whole life struggling without really knowing why. And is he mad about it? At the beginning, but now not so much.

In fact, he's written several books, has had a successful movie career, and was the freakin' Fonz. He was also on arguably the funniest show on television — Arrested Development. He embraces it:

"I think that at first I was ashamed then I found out when my step-son Jed was in the 3rd grade, we had him tested and that's when I found out that's what I have. Then I was angry, all that punishment, all that yelling, all that feeling bad was for naught and then I thought maybe I would not be on the phone talking to you today if I did not not struggle through my learning challenge. Because if I were to give you two words to live by it would be tenacity and gratitude. Tenacity gets you where you want to go and gratitude doesn't allow you to be angry along the way.

It's a process. I didn't want to be angry, so you embrace the dyslexia rather than be embarrassed by it or defeated by it. Now certainly there are times when I wish I could spell, I wish I could do math in my head, I wish I could learn Italian."

We think that's definitely the way you have to go about it. There's nothing you can really do to fix dyslexia completely, so to reflect back and know that you've been successful regardless has to be pretty empowering!

I've Never Met an Idiot on the River is his newest book, filled with anecdotes, pictures, and observations. It's a quick and sweet read, so check it out if you can!
