Jason Schwartzman And Doggy Endure The Icky Rain Together

jason schwartzman dog walk in hollywood rain

Sunday was way too wet in Hollywood.

We realize we don't have to experience the perils of MaMa Nature and her flow as much as the rest of the country, but because of this, we become accustomed to sunny weather.

So when it rains, our bodies can't handle it. Excuse us, let's rephrase. When it pours all day and all night long, we can't handle it.

Seriously, even the LAX tunnel had a fit and flooded!

But Jason Schwartzman and his dog still decided to go out for a walk. They must have thought the gloomy weather would discourage being seen, but clearly that isn't the case. Cute dog!

Bison Die At ZooAmerica During Hershey Flooding

Sadsies!

Two bison at ZooAmerica are confirmed casualties of the flooding in Hershey, PA.

They were swimming, barely keeping their heads above the water. The zoo workers tried their hardest to save the animals.

A witness said:

"The water, of course, kept getting higher and higher and they were just trying to keep their head above water, and at one point they had a rope and they were just trying to hook that around the horn of the bison."

They were unable to save the bison, though.

The zoo workers stayed the whole night, caring for the animals they were able to rescue.

Check out the above video for more details and eye witness accounts.

Help For Hundreds Of Pets Affected By Floods In N.D.

YAY!

Thanks to the amazballz work of the NARSC (National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition) over 500 pets displaced by severe flooding that has devastated the city of Minot, N.D., have been put in emergency shelters.

Losing your home must be horrible — we are so happy to hear the flood victims wont be losing their pets too!!

Shannon Walajtys, an emergency relief officer (who was one of the first the team on the ground), is happy to give this small comfort to the displaced families. She said:

“Many of the displaced residents are understandably pre-occupied with the burden of finding new homes in which to live, and the moments they’re able to spend visiting their beloved pets at our emergency shelter provide such an important emotional boost.”

We're sure it's more than just an emotional boost, it's a frigg'n a family member! But not all the owners of the rescued pets know their animals are safe. Josh Cary, team lead of the AHA’s Red Star effort explained,

“American Humane Association is providing a rotation team to care for family pets whose owners have been stranded by the flooding. Animal owners know that we will keep their beloved pets safe until reunions are possible.”

We hope they find their owners soon!

Millions Of Spiders Cover Pakistan Trees In Webs

Pakistan Tree Spiders

Ewww!

We know every creature serves a purpose on this fantastic planet, but this imagery still gives us the shivers!

Due to excessive flooding in Pakistan in 2010 that submerged a fifth of the country, MILLIONS of spiders took to the trees to escape the rising flood waters.

Pictured above are the trees that they effectively cocooned in spider webs, while seeking shelter from the water.

Unfortunately, spiders weren't the only creature affected by the flooding and 20 million human lives were also disrupted as a result.

However, remember that thing about every creature serving a purpose?

In the areas where spiders took over the trees, there are significantly less malaria-spreading mosquitos that are expected to accompany stagnant water.

Hooray for spiders! Creepy, disgusting spiders. Seriously though…good job spiders.

Dog Waits By Brazilian Flood Victim's Grave

Dog waits by owners grave who died in Brazilian floods

This picture is heart wrenching!

Leao sat by her owners grave, who died in last weeks catastrophic landslides in Brazil, for several consecutive days.

Was she paying tribute or waiting for her return?

We can only imagine how confused and lost this poor creature is.

Her owner Cristina Maria Casario Santana was lost in the countries worst flood disaster on record that claimed the lives of at least 655 people.

We hope somebody has room for Leao in their home and can take her in.

Rhinos In Danger Of Going Under

We've all see the news about the flooding taking place in India and Pakistan and the people threatened by the rising water levels, but what about the animals?

The rising water is now threatening the Pabitora Sanctuary in Assam, India, which has the highest density of one-horned rhinos in the world! The water has forced the rhinos to move to higher ground outside of the sanctuary, where they are in a dangerous risk of being shot by poachers.

In the last decade, a recorded 50 rhinos have lost their lives to poachers. Currently, the authorities are doing all they can to protect the rhinos until they are able to safely return to their homes in the sanctuary.

Keep them safe! They deserve the same protection as the people displaced by the flooding!
