The horror movie genre lost a big name today as spanish director Jesus "Jess" Franco died at the age of 82 after suffering a stroke.
Jess' film career spans over 50 years, starting in the mid 1950's and continuing up until his death. In that time, he has written and directed nearly 200 films.
You might not be familiar with too much of his work, as none of his films received any mainstream success. But his 1962 breakthrough film The Awful Dr. Orlof earned him a cult following and cemented his place in the exploitation horror genre.
In addition to dealing with horror, many of Jess' films also earned X-ratings for their erotic nature, which can be seen in classics such as Venus in Furs and Vampyros Lesbos.
In 2009, he was given the lifetime achievement award at the annual Goya Film Awards in Madrid, Spain.
If you're tapped into the horror movie scene, then you've heard of You're Next!
It generated a LOT of buzz at festivals and even got picked up by Lionsgate for distribution! Amazing, right??
That was in 2011!!
It has taken THIS LONG for even a trailer to be released, and it's a shame, too — the buzz is pretty much gone from it! We'd like to think that any decent horror movie would survive on just being incredz, but in this day you need to get people talking before it becomes commercially successful!
Hopefully the newly released (above) trailer will light a fire under it again because it looks scary as hell!
It's a story about a family under attack by masked murderers in a The Strangers style home invasion. If the music they picked for the trailer is any indication for the soundtrack in the movie, we're even more excited — Lou Reed's Perfect Day fits frighteningly well!
Let's hope they hit their August release and don't push it back any more!
If he weren't such a cutie, this musical Disney parody would break our hearts with realism and darkness!!

Jon Cozart is a crafty fellow with a pleasing voice, and he wants to teach us all a little bit about what ACTUALLY happens after Disney movies are over! You thought your favorite character's story was over? Wrong!

Sweet, innocent country cupcake Carrie Underwood is a fan of HORROR?!
Eeeeeeeeek!
YUP it's true, and apparently the singer is SUCH a huge fan of scurrryyy stuff — Stephen King books in particular — that she wanted to incorporate mystery, terror, and something extra specific to Mr. King into her latest music videoTwo Black Cadillacs.
Get acquainted with Carrie's dark side and find out HOW she pays homage to the master wordsmith of dreadful things (above)!
