New Vicious Dog Ordinance

New Vicious Dog Ordinance

This sucks.

EL LAY County just passed a new ordinance that allows animal control officers to decided weather or not a dog is to vicious to live!!

Before this ordnance Superior Court's were the only ones with the power to determine the vicious state of a dog.

The now ordinance will ALSO expand the definition of “vicious” to include a “serious illness or injury” to a human. WTF??

To us this just means there are going to be A LOT more dogs euthanized by the LA government in years to come. The officers should at least need approval before putting a dog down!

According to cesarsway.com officials said the changes in this ordinance were needed to prevent owners of dangerous dogs from moving across county lines.

EXCLUSIVE: What You Must Know About Driving Around With Your Pet

Love taking your pooch EVERYWHERE?

You never want to be without your pet (we totes get that), but did you know running errands with your can be dangerous?

Our fav Hollywood vet, Dr. Patrick Mahaney, warns his celeb clientele (and now you) that bringing along companion animals when heading out and about can exposes your pet to a variety of health stressors, including potentially lethal hot temperatures. Yikes!

The Dr. says:

Never leave your dog unattended in a car, even on a day that feels relatively cool.

A Stanford University Medical Center study determined that the temperature within a vehicle can increase by an average of 40 degrees Fahrenheit in within 60 minutes, regardless of the outside temperature. (crazy right?)

Your dog’s body temperature can rapidly increase and cause hyperthermia — and only a few minutes of hyperthermia are required for your dog to suffer the severe effects of heat related illness, including death.

The Dr. says even if you plan to only be away from the car for a few minutes, unforeseeable circumstances could keep you occupied for longer and your pooch could fry (or die).

breast cancer smelling dog

This is insane.com!

A Atlanta woman believes her eight-year-old boxer Floyd Henry 'smelled' the illness on his owner before pawing at her right breast.

After four days of her pet pawing and nipping at her, the dog rescuer finally went to see doctors, who confirmed she had stage three breast cancer.

Mrs Witcher, age 67, said:

"When he sniffed me, he kind of turned back and really pushed into my right breast, real hard. He pushed real hard for one shot, then he looked at me straight in the face, took his right foot and began to paw my right breast. And I thought, "This is not good".

It get crazier. A breast surgical oncologist at Winship Cancer Institute, said:

"Her type of cancer was rather large in her breast. I absolutely believe that the dog saved Miss Witcher's life."

Following her dog's discovery in 2008, she underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, and has now been free from the disease for two years.

Really?

Handlers at an animal sanctuary in north-east Australia were mystified when their star attraction, Tonka the wombat, was brought low by a mystery illness.

Tonka shed 20 percent of his body weight after Cyclone Yasi devastated his home at the Billabong Sanctuary, near Townsville, Queensland, closing it to visitors for eight weeks.

The Sanctuary manager said that it was only after 'forking out serious cash' in vet checks and lab bills that they found out the problem.

The primadonna wombat was suffering from depression brought on by a lack of cuddles.

After the cyclone he missed the public - the patting, the photos, the cuddles and the endless posing for the paparazzi.'

Now, with a bit of TLC, Tonka is being nursed back to full strength in time for the popular tourist attraction to reopen this weekend.
