Things like this just shouldn't happen.

Destiny Clark, a 14-year-old girl living with her family in Warrenton, Missouri, took her own life last week — and her mother and father now say the cause was relentless bullying by her classmates.

The girl and her parents had just moved to Warrenton from another city in Missouri, and Destiny was having trouble transitioning into making new friends for her eighth grade year at school.

Her mother, Stephanie, explained to reporters that the teenager was very concerned with what other people thought of her, and wanted everybody to get along:

"She wanted everybody to like her and she wanted to like everybody else."

Stephanie and her husband Kurtis tried everything — counseling, therapy, and even considering home school options — but Destiny's father said nothing worked:

"We felt very helpless. We talked to her and talked to her and talked to her. And just trying to get her to understand that it's, you know, let it roll off your back."

While the school district in Warrenton won't comment on Destiny's case, her parents revealed that she hanged herself two weeks ago on a pull-up bar in her room just days after the bullying led to the girl being involved in a fight at school.

Family members found Destiny, and cut her down from the bar; she was rushed to the hospital and while initially her loved ones remained optimistic that she might survive, she passed away several days later.

Ugh.

We are so, so sorry to have to report this horrible news as her parents have come forward hoping to raise awareness of Destiny's death, if only to prevent future instances like this with other teenagers.

With matching butterfly-themed tattoos to remember their daughter, Stephanie reveals a new mission in her life moving forward from the awful tragedy:

"Everybody started saying, ‘Fly high, Destiny,' And it caught on. We're trying to make the best of everything and hoping we can make an impact so other kids won't feel the way that she did."

So powerful.

End bullying!!! Destiny's life should not have ended this way!!

Transgender High Schooler Speaks Out After Hundreds Of Her Classmates Protest Her Using The Girls' Locker Room!

Hillsboro High School students protest a transgender classmate using the girl's locker room.

It looks like the city of Hillsboro, Missouri didn't get the memo that it's 2015.

More than 150 students at Hillsboro High School staged a walkout that lasted nearly two hours on Monday, and it was all because their transgender classmate Lila Perry wanted to use the girl's locker room.

Lila was born a boy but has identified as female since she was 13 years old, and she says for the most part school officials have been very understanding and accommodating towards her.

Lila hasn't been afraid to share her thoughts on the matter so far, and she's definitely not holding back now:

Springfield, Missouri Votes To Take Away Rights From Gay, Lesbian, & Transgendered People

no title

Another giant step backward for mankind.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for the LGBT community, but things don't seem like they're about to get any better.

That's because on top of states like Indiana and Arkansas passing anti-gay bills, Springfield, Missouri actively went out of its way to discriminate against gays, lesbians, and trans* people as well.

In a close vote on Tuesday, the city rejected an ordinance that went in place last October that served as protection for queer individuals.

Ferguson Verdict Reached: Officer Darren Wilson Not Indicted In Death Of Michael Brown; Rioting, Looting Ensues

Michael Brown

After more than 100 days of protests, a federal grand jury has determined Darren Wilson's fate.

18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed by the Ferguson police officer during an altercation on August 9. Police claim that Brown reached for Wilson's weapon, while Brown's family and several witnesses claim Wilson shot Brown while he was raising his hands to surrender.

The grand jury — consisting of nine white jurors and three black jurors — decided by majority NOT to indict Officer Wilson after deliberating for two days. The jury could have charged Wilson with first degree murder, second degree murder, manslaughter, or involuntary manslaughter.

After being informed of the decision by authorities, Brown's family attorney Benjamin Crump released the news shortly before the official announcement:

"The jury was not inclined to indict on any charges.”

At 9:22 p.m. ET, county prosecutor Robert McCulloch confirmed the verdict in a televised press conference:

"No probable cause existed to charge Officer Wilson."

In a statement, Brown's family said they were "profoundly disappointed" by the decision but asked for peaceful protest. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
