This is for all the amateur boxers out there! FitPerez reader Sam wants to learn “the perfect jab”, so he wrote boxer Alex Brenes for advice, asking:
Hi Alex,
So my question is – the perfect jab – whats the best way to go about it?
According to Alex:
Sam, If you ask my trainer of 12 years, Luis Lagerman & owner of www.sobekick.com in South Beach, any punch you land is the perfect punch. Your jab is a tool, find your range, keep your distance, rest, create openings, distractions, heck, I’ve even knocked fools out with a jab. By definition, the full extension of your front arm, left arm-if you are fighting orthodox (right handed) or right arm (if you are a lefty) is a jab. Your core & waist following through are a big asset to a great punch. Now keep ’em up & hit ’em!
