Horseback Rider Back At It

After a terrible horseback riding accident, Thea Maxfield is riding again!
Thea fell from her horse and suffered a broken neck when she tried to get up so the animal wouldn’t trample her. That’s when she realized she couldn’t lift her head.
Being the brave person she is, she just cupped her hands and held her head as she got up.
At the hospital, doctors warned her that she could be paralyzed from this severe break, she was lucky to still be alive!
Doctors put a permanent brace on her neck, and within three months the bones were fused back together and she was back in the saddle after 7 months.
The brace was a specially-adapted head brace connected to a computer by tiny sensors. Thea is the first person in the world to use this technology.
Hopefully this system will be used more in the future.
This is an amazing story, and we are glad Thea made it through!!
