Very soon the Tiger Summit will be taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia which may decide the fate of the remaining tigers in the wild.
This summit is the end of a two year effort that was initiated by the World Bank in 2008, to organize a workable global strategy to save the tigers.
It is horrible to hear, but fewer than 3,200 tigers live in the wild.
As of now, the United States is the only country that has an active fund dedicated to tiger conservation. The fund provides grants for tiger protection efforts around the world.
We are hoping that more societies decide to join the US and create a tiger fund to help keep these beautiful creatures alive.
$35 million a year would really help female tigers be able to breed and thrive in the wild…this is what an athlete gets paid.
