U.S. Does The Right Thing And Throws Down Dough To Save Devils Hole Pupfish!

no title
We think they’re worth saving!
One of the first species to EVER be protected by the Endangered Species Act is the Devils Hole pupfish.
However these days there are less than a frickin’ hundred of the rare species left in the entire world!!!
And while many do not believe there is a reason for the U.S. to keep spending money to protect this fish – at least one journalist named Jason Bittel believes otherwise!
Here’s what he recently wrote:

“Long story short, here’s a species that has survived in a tiny pit in the desert for 50,000 years, weathering periods of extreme flooding and drought, and enduring food shortages, earthquakes, lack of genetic diversity, and base temperatures hotter than most other fish on this planet can withstand. And now, in the last three decades, humans have messed up the global climate so much, so fast, that this little Rambo of a fish has finally been forced to put on Semisonic’s “Closing Time” and start shuffling toward the door of oblivion. Are we really going to let that happen? Is that how we want to roll?”

We don’t want to roll that way, no jose!
And while it may seem like a lot to fork down $4.5 million for a species that many don’t consider useful, who is to say which creatures should survive and which should not?
We don’t want to be the ones to decide something like that, and we think we should do all we can to protect EVERY creature on Earth!
Even, or maybe especially, the little guys!
