Chicago has found an odd method for getting rid of the pigeons that are plaguing the city.
They’re deporting them! To Indiana.
A Chicago alderman had already proposed a $1,000 fine for feeding the birds.
Now his office has confirmed that they are removing the pigeons.
A spokesperson said:
“An Indiana farmer contacted us and offered to capture and take pigeons to his farm. He wanted them alive.”
So residents have been surprised to see men shooting large groups of pigeons with giant net guns.
A witness who saw men trying to haul off 60-70 pigeons right after netting them, said:
“It was so bizarre and so disturbing, it couldn’t even compute to me.”
Since pigeons are classified as a “nuisance” in the state’s Department of Natural Resources it doesn’t really matter how humane the method of removal is.
Which isn’t cool.
At least once they’re on the farm they’ll hopefully have a much better life!
This sounds like a cartoon show: city pigeons relocated to the country, adjusting to farm life! LOLz!
