Florida teacher Dennis Turner was charged Tuesday with felony sexual battery based on an alleged affair with a 15-year-old-student.
Turner had previously resigned his position as drama teacher at Brevard County’s Edgewood Junior/Senior High School after making parents uncomfortable with his familiarity with students.
A representative of the school board said:
“[Parents said Turner was] jumping on the bed with students, things you don’t expect an adult to do – even if it’s being fun.”
In the wake of this scandal, one former student came forward and gave a detailed account of a 3-year affair with Turner that started when she was only 15!
The girl told police that some of these trysts even took place on school grounds!
Police subsequently found e-mails that may not only confirm the victim’s story but also suggest other offenses.
Turner is currently facing 126 felony charges and is being held on a $4.4 million bond.
