Here it comes! We can already see it now:
James Franco‘s next academic adventure to secure a law degree!
If you recall, the actor has some serious beef with Jose Angel Santana, the former NYU professor who sued the school for what he claims was unfair termination from his job for giving his famous student a “D” grade…and then turned him litigious claws on James himself after justifying his poor marks on the fact that he was a “bad teacher!”
Yeah, seriously. This is an actual court case.
Regardless, the Oz The Great and Powerful star is NOT taking Santana’s request for a default judgment in the favor of his defamation suit lying down, and has officially filed a response!
Apparently, Santana claims he deserves to be awarded judgment because Franco never responded to the 2011 filing, but now, Franco is asserting that he was never properly served with the legal documents, and on that grounds alone, the suit should be thrown out!
Furthermore, he doesn’t believe his now-public opinion that Santana is a “bad teacher” is grounds for suing someone, anyway, as it’s protected under free speech!
Inneresting predicament, don’t U think??
We’ll be very curious to see if/how this develops in the courtroom!
But for the time being…
