Moses may have parted the sea, but Noah made people part with some C-notes!
The Russell Crowe-starring biblical epic (with the biblical budget of $125 million!) won the weekend, earning a domestic box office take of $44 million!
The flood knocked Divergent from its top spot to a respectable number 2 $26.5 mil.
But the real surprise may be Noah‘s international draw. The movie took in $95 million worldwide, including a record breaking $17 million in Russia alone! Bozhe moy!
Captain America: The Winter Soldier also debuted just about everywhere BUT America, earning a superheroic $75.2 million around the world, over DOUBLE what The First Avenger took in.
In bad box office news, Arnold Schwarzenegger also broke records. His Sabotage is officially the low point of his movie career, earning only $5.3 million in 2,486 theaters.
Oh well. He’ll be back.
