It was just announced that David Letterman‘s The Late Show successor will be none other than Stephen Colbert! The Comedy Central staple and Colbert Report creator clearly has some big shoes to fill, but if there is one person who is confident in him — it’s Dave! Here’s what he had to say about his successor:

“Stephen has always been a real friend to me. I├óΓé¼Γäóm very excited for him, and I├óΓé¼Γäóm flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses.”

Ha! David may be retiring late night, but he’s not going to stop being funny any time soon!
