Those in attendance at Salt Lake City Bees baseball game on Tuesday night got to witness a medical miracle when local man, Shawn Wickard, threw out the first pitch.
The reason this was so special is because Shawn has been paralyzed for 16 years! But he stood up out of his wheelchair and launched one right over home plate!
Wickard has suffered from both lupus and a spinal disease. But nearly 10 years ago, he was the first person at the National Institute of Health to receive a stem cell transplant, and the results speak for themselves.
Shawn spoke about just how significant this pitch is for him, saying:
“I want more people to understand that modern medicine is curing and helping people and I’m just one of the examples of how well that medicine is working.├óΓé¼┬¥
We stand up and applaud you, sir.
