Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & Three Other Female Candidates Try To ‘Knock Down The House’ In Inspiring Documentary -- Watch The Trailer!

We’re still a few years out from getting that inevitable Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez biopic, but the political underdog’s triumphant congressional race is already being told in the form of an inspiring new documentary that’s set to hit Netflix — and theaters! — on May 1.
Ocasio-Cortez is one of the four female Democratics featured in Knock Down the House, which saw filmmaker Rachel Lears following a handful of progressive candidates who ran primary campaigns against establishment Dems in the midterm elections in 2018.
Aside from the 29-year-old Congresswoman, the doc tells the campaign stories of Amy Vilela in Nevada, Cori Bush in Missouri, and Paula Jean Swearengin in West Virginia as they aim to rally their communities and breathe new life into America’s bureaucratic, male-dominated political landscape.

While only AOC was successful in her bid (she defeated ten-term incumbent Congressman Joe Crowley in the 2018 primaries and went on to beat Republican opponent Anthony Pappas to become the U.S. Representative for New York’s 14th congressional district), each candidate’s story shows that canvassing and showing up in your community makes a real difference — and proves just how eager these progressive politicians are to, well… knock down the house.
Ch-ch-check out the trailer for Knock Down The House (above) and catch the doc on Netflix and in theaters on May 1.
