A baseball fan in Atlanta died last night after falling nearly six stories at Turner Field as the Braves took on the Philadelphia Phillies.
The fan was identified as 29-year-old Ronald Homer, who stumbled over the railing in the upper deck area and fell more than 60 feet.
Police arrived on the scene and transported him to Atlanta Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.
There was heavy rain, which delayed the last night’s game, however it’s not immediately clear whether the wet conditions or alcohol played a part in the tragic accident. An autopsy is expected to take place later today.
Hopefully Turner Field and other ballparks around the U.S. will learn from this horrible event and take preventative measures to keep fans safe in the future.
