In Shanghai, China a sixth person has died from a new bird flu strain and eight others are sick!
The same day of the death, a Shanghai market detected bird flu in a pigeon and began slaughtering all of the birds.
That’s just awful!
Over 20,000 chickens, ducks, geese and pigeons were all killed!
The director of China’s CDC said:
“The key to control the number of H7N9 patients depends on whether the virus can spread among human beings. So far we haven├óΓé¼Γäót found any cases that show this kind of virus can spread from people to people.”
Scientists are now working on a vaccine for H7N9, the new bird flu.
What’s scary is how rapidly the virus is evolving.
It adapts to fight any treatment we throw at it!!
Hopefully, they can nip this problem in the bud before it gets out of control.
So sad so many birds had to be slaughtered. Maybe we should start vaccinating birds!
