We didn’t watch it, but Ben McKenzie looked mighty fine in the commercials!
Unfortunately Southland has been canceled by NBC and supposedly Jay Leno is to blame.
We told you how many of the creative types in Hollywood aren’t pleased with The Jay Leno Show taking up 5 slots a week of what used to the homes for prime time dramas.
NBC decided Southland was “too dark and gritty” for Friday’s 9 p.m. time slot and with Jay in the 10 p.m. slot, they couldn’t push it back. So instead they gave it the axe!
Southland producer John Wells, former producer of ER and The West Wing, says of the cancellation:
“I’m disappointed that NBC no longer has the time periods available to support the kind of critically-acclaimed series that was for so many years, a hallmark of their success. We remain extremely proud of Southland and are actively looking for another home for the series.”
Maybe it will fare better on a cable network, but for now at NBC it looks like Jay is their prized possession!
