Chris Hemsworth is one of the biggest movie stars on the planet, so we doubt he expected this to happen when signed up!
Especially when Michael Mann, one of the most respected directors around, is helming the thing!
But the $70 million movie Blackhat was absolutely a BIG time flop this past opening weekend when it only took in $4.4M.
Which is really bad considering most movie grosses go down after the opening.

It probably didn’t help the movie that it was going up against the super successful flick American Sniper… and its poor critical reviews probably weren’t helping much either.
Many industry people are blaming the film’s marketing strategy, the director for being too controlling, and the fact that computer hacking isn’t a sexy enough subject for moviegoers.
But anything with Chris Hemsworth has to be sexy and then some!
We’re sure the actor will bounce back from this unsuccessful movie — he’s too hawt not to!
