The official, final coroner’s report is in.

Cory Monteith passed at the age of 31 from a lethal mix of heroin and alcohol as he was shooting the drug and drinking champagne in his hotel room the night of July 12.

His body wasn’t discovered until July 13, shortly after noon, where responders also found “two empty champagne bottles and glasses, a spoon with drug residue and a used hypodermic needle.”

The technical terminology for his cause of death? It was a “mixed drug toxicity, involving intravenous heroin use combined with the ingestion of alcohol.”

Given the time periods in between Cory’s substance abuse, it has been suggested that his tolerance was lower the night of his death, which caused his body to react much differently than he was used to.

His friends, fans, and family continue to mourn him. Glee will air his tribute episode on October 10th, with an emotional performance anticipated from girlfriend Lea Michele.
