We all know the government’s gotta get paid what it’s due, but that may mean Darryl Strawberry‘s ex-wife won’t be getting the money promised to her in their divorce settlement.
The former New York Mets player gets $8,891 a month as delayed compensation for his services to the team in the 80s and has designated $800,000 of that money to go to his ex, Charisse Strawberry.
Unfortunately for this baseball wife, Darryl also owes the IRS $472,086 and a judge has ruled that Big Brother has to get his money first before Charisse sees a penny.
She sued Darryl and the MLB team for the money now but has finally realized the government always wins. With the Mets paying less then $9k a month in Darryl’s name, Charisse may not get her hands on any of that money until at least 2016!
Bummer, lady. This will teach you to marry, then divorce a man who doesn’t pay his taxes!
