What a vile way of doing business!
Philip Seymour Hoffman tragically left us last week, and some designers were looking to capitalize on it!
Naturally, there were lots of celebs at the 46-year-old actor’s wake on Thursday, and some fashion houses were treating it as any other red carpet event!
Valentino took the time to email that Hoffman’s former co-star Amy Adams was carrying a bag from their collection which had debuted that day. Later on, once the company realized that the picture was outside the wake, they issued an apology, saying:

“We sincerely regret releasing a photo to the media this morning of Amy Adams with a Valentino bag. We were not aware the photograph was taken while she was attending the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman. It was an innocent mistake, and we apologize to Ms. Adams who was not aware, or a part of, our p.r. efforts.”

However, it was pointed out that the people who got the email had pictures from two different photo agencies, both of which said that she was at the wake in the caption.
Sounds fishy!
Also, weirdly, UGG Australia gifted their sheepskin boots to people at both the funeral and the wake! They said it was “because they knew a ton of celebs were in New York City and the weather sucks.” They also said they hoped the celebs would be wearing them in some pics.
Bottom line, this was a moment to remember Philip Seymour Hoffman, not to make a buck! There’s a time and place for business, but this was neither of those!
