Mel Gibson was served with a big ol’ stack of divorce papers on Good Friday from his wife of 28 years!
Nothing “good” about that!
Although it’s been rumored that Gibson and wife Robyn have been separated for over two years, Robyn filed for divorce with the help of celebu-attorney Laura Wasser!
Robyn cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split from her husband, with the separation date “to be determined.”
Because the separation date has not been set in stone, the question of how much $$$ of Mel’s assets Robyn will be awarded is up in the air! The two didn’t bother to get a prenup so all assets are to be divided 50/50.
She has also requested joint physical and legal custody of their 10-year-old son Tom – the only minor remaining in the Gibson clan of 7 children. Robyn has also requested spousal support and attorney fees from Mel, naturally.
Don’t expect any trash talking from either side, though!
Mel and Robyn released the following statement earlier today: “Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so.”
