We├óΓé¼Γäóve been keeping you up on the recent suit filed against Drake claiming he did not give credit (and $$$) due to Erika Lee, a woman who claims she co-wrote and helped compose the popular track, Marvin’s Room.
In court documents filed in response to the Feb 2nd lawsuit, Drake insists he did give Lee credit for contributions to the song by including her in the liner notes, but in no way does she deserve royalties or a co-writer credit.
The documents state:
“[Drake] denies that [Lee] ever had any rights to co-writer royalties, and denies the characterization that [Lee] was ‘excluded’ from something she had no right to…[Lee] is “not a co-writer of the song and├óΓé¼┬ªshe is not entailed to writer credit and money.”
In response to the response, Lee├óΓé¼Γäós attorney calls Drake’s statement ├óΓé¼┼ôtotal├óΓé¼┬¥ nonsense, going on to say:
“It’s just not true and I am very surprised by his statements…This will all be taken care of in court.”
Hmmm. We’ve never thought Drake to be the type to blatantly dismiss someone deserving, so we have some doubts about this Ericka Lee.
But, we guess it├óΓé¼Γäóll all be hashed out in the courtroom…hopefully the truth will be revealed!
