Ellen Pompeo, also know as Meredith Grey, has FINALLY dished on all things behind the scenes at Grey’s Anatomy!
With the series reaching it’s 10th season and 200th episode, there are a lot of memories for the cast to dish on and we’re SO glad Ellen decided on the dirtiest.
Ellen opened up in an interview about the exit of Katherine Heigl and Isiah Washington.
It seems that Shonda Rhimes, the show’s creator, had wanted Isaiah in the role of McDreamy!
Ellen said:
You know they wanted Isaiah Washington to be my boyfriend… Shonda really wanted to put a black man in the mix. I didn├óΓé¼Γäót think they were really going to put an interracial couple on the show and I didn├óΓé¼Γäót want him. It was too close to home. I said I wanted that Dempsey kid. I think that once Isaiah did not get the role it backfired.├óΓé¼┬¥├óΓé¼┬¥
Ellen, as most may know, is married to Chris Ivery, an African-American music producer.
Ellen went on to discuss Katherine’s exit saying:
“When Katie left, it was tough. You could understand why she wanted to go ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ when you├óΓé¼Γäóre offered $12 million a movie and you├óΓé¼Γäóre only 26. But Katie├óΓé¼Γäós problem is that she should not have renewed her contract. She re-upped, took a big raise and then tried to get off the show. And then her movie career did not take off.├óΓé¼┬¥
Sounds like kharma to us!
Both actors departures from the show were surrounded by controversy. Katie withdrew herself from Emmy noms because she thought she didn’t deserve it and Isiah left due to his penchant for gay slurs.
It’s great that we’re FINALLY getting the behind-the-scenes story as to what had happened surrounding those highly public departures!
Keep up that open and honest mouth in interviews, Ellen!
