Move over, Fyre Festival and the Willy Wonka experience! A Bridgerton-themed ball thrown in Detroit over the weekend is now in the middle of the storm!!
Many fans of the Netflix series flocked to The Harmonie Club on Sunday to “step into the enchanting world of the Regency era” and enjoy “an evening of sophistication, grace, and historical charm” like no other, as the Detroit Bridgerton Themed Ball website stated. Attendees would get the chance to earn “prizes,” including a $2,000 cash reward for “best dressed,” “giveaways,” and be named a “Diamond of The Season,” which is a reference to the show.

In June, Uncle N Me LLC owners Jeremy Scott and Chelsea Beard, who hosted the event, even told WWJ-TV that the ball included dinner, dancing, carriage rides, games, and more. However, it was anything but a magical night! None of what they promised happened. Instead of being immersed in the Regency Era, WYXZ-TV reported that partygoers got minimal decor, undercooked food, and an exotic dancer on a stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor as the entertainment! What!!!
Per The Guardian, guests spent anywhere between $150 and $1,000 on tickets to the event. And they did not get their money’s worth from it! Now, guests are calling the ball a scam and demanding refunds. Amanda Sue Mathis told WYXZ-TV:
“The way that it was described was this was going to be a Bridgerton evening. We were gonna have classical music, good dinner. There was gonna be a play and they were gonna pick Diamond of the Season. They were gonna give away all of these prizes and we went in and it was completely empty in there. There is nothing going on. They have a pole in the middle of the dance floor. A stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor.”
Yikes!
Charming Amecia Fuller-Ragland added:
“It was complete chaos today. They never even scanned our tickets. Then there were random people that we had paid to eat dinner and there were random people all throughout the venue.”
Yeah, that definitely sounds like “complete chaos.” Watch the interviews (below):
Over on the Detroit subreddit, one person said the event “ was absolutely HORRENDOUS,” adding:
“There was nowhere to sit. Although the venue was nice, the decor was sparse and extremely tacky. It wasn’t even Bridgerton themed! We spent $400 on tickets for a complete b*s experience! We went to the Bridgerton Ball in Chicago 2 years ago and it was absolutely beautiful! We were SOOO disappointed!”
Yeesh…

Damn! What a letdown! In a statement to WXYZ-TV, Uncle N Me LLC apologized to those who were less than impressed by the event:
“We understand that not everyone had the experience they hoped for at our most recent event Sunday night at The Harmonie Club, and for that, we sincerely apologize. Our intention was to provide a magical evening, but we recognize that organizational challenges affected the enjoyment of some guests. We take full responsibility and accountability for these shortcomings. Please know that we are working diligently to address all concerns to ensure that all guests have the enjoyable experience they deserve. Your feedback is invaluable, and we truly appreciate both the positive and constructive comments shared with us.”
The company added they are “reviewing resolution options, which will be communicated shortly” and “are committed to doing everything in our power to make this right.” Whether that means refunds for all attendees is unclear right now! But they certainly have a lot of explaining to do…
