Few people can imagine going through what the Glee cast went through when they lost Cory Monteith to an overdose.
But Stevie Nicks is one of those unfortunate people.
And after growing close with the cast when they created a 2011 episode inspired by Fleetwood Mac‘s music, Stevie decided to reach out to the cast during this most difficult time.
She revealed:
“I said, ‘Forgive me if I’m stepping into your personal space. I lost my godson to an overdose last year- he died at a fraternity party – so I understand how shocking that is.'”
Not only has Stevie lost a loved one to overdose, but she also struggled with her own drug addiction issues.
And now, after getting to a better place herself, she’s hoping the same for many others as she admitted:
“When what happened to Cory happened, I just was sick for days. Honestly, just sick. It’s just so prevalent. It’s everywhere. It’s worse than when we were young.”
We couldn’t agree more.
We hope that Cory’s tragic death makes many more people aware of the dangers.
And we hope the Glee cast can continue to stay strong throughout this tough time.
