Every GLEE-Tail: Love Is All You Need

Times, they are a’changing…

It has been a tumultuous summer for any gal or guy who calls themselves a Gleek. In the wake of the devastating loss the Glee community has suffered, it’s been difficult to think about the show returning, especially since it will be without one of it’s shiniest stars.

But it seems that Ryan Murphy’s answer to help ease the pain of the passing of Cory Monteith is to fill the Glee world with laughter, light and most importantly, love. Last night’s episode firmly etched itself in the show’s history as one of the most gloriously romantic and fan-satisfying episodes to date.

Let’s cut right to the chase…

Kurt said YES!

Well, technically he said, ├óΓé¼┼ôyeah.├óΓé¼┬¥ But, if you were just bombarded with the most elaborate, Beatles-themed marriage proposal of all time, you├óΓé¼Γäód be a bit speechless too! It came to pass the Blaine decided once and for all that Kurt was his man and that he was going to show him through the best way he knows how — song! Butnot only was he enlisting his fellow Directioners to help him serenade Kurt, but also his old Warbler buddies (GRANT GUSTIN!!!), the groups arch-rivals, Vocal Adrenaline and the sorely missed glee club from the Haverbrook School for the Deaf. And in the end, no matter if you are gay or straight, it was all irrelevant. Blaine’s speech to Kurt was one of the sweetest expressions of love ever written for TV. Thus, the boys got hitched!

What was really the kicker for us though was actually the really touching scene Kurt had with his dad right before the big moment. Kurt clearly knew what was up with this proposal business and looks to his ever loving father for advice on what to do. His father admits that they are young, but if given the chance, he would’ve married his mom as early as he could, just so he could’ve had more time with her. It was a sweet moment for this lovable father-son duo and it made Kurt’s answer all the more poignant.

So we’s be having a Klaine wedding! Make sure to get your bow-ties and cravats in matching colors!

Life Is Far From Sunny

Taking a step back, the episode actually opened up on Rachel├óΓé¼Γäós storyline, picking up on her journey in hopefully landing the lead role in the revival of Funny Girl. However, after her director Carlisle Cullen gives her the brush off (that├óΓé¼Γäós not a joke, it really was Peter Facinelli), Rachel goes for a long walk, while singing the classic Beatles ballad, Yesterday. We won├óΓé¼Γäót lie ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ it was hard to watch. Whether it was intended in this way or not (and to be clear, he was never mentioned once the whole episode), Rachel wondered past all the places Finn took her while they were in NYC for Nationals, including Central Park’s Bow Bridge.

But we├óΓé¼Γäóve got to hand it to Lea Michele ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ she continues to amaze and inspire us. While things kicked off on a somber moment, she took off like lightening in a rousing number with Santana to prove her star power to Carlisle. The girls have landed waitressing jobs at an Ellen’s Stardust Diner type joint and they seize the opportunity to show off their skills. And Lea does just that. She brought everything she had in this episode: in song, in character and in dance! We├óΓé¼Γäóre so proud of her!

Lingering Questions…

Is Sue back at McKinley?

Oh yeah! In fact, she’s top dog as principal! Becky came clean about her role in the school shooting and after a little “SUE-THING” (like sleuthing) on Sylvester’s part, Figgins is out and she’s in. Her first order of business? A truce with Mr.Schue and Roz Washington to leave the Cheerios and Glee club alone, on the condition that both teams become champions this year!

Are Kitty and Artie an item?

Yeah! Like, okay… teenage boys of America. Get yourselves a wheelchair stat, because that thing seems to be a chick magnet. Artie’s landed himself more Glee club tail than any of the other guys and now, he can add Kitty to his conquest list. Of course, she’s hesitant at first, being a pretty cheerleader and worried about her self image would give anyone pause. But in the end, the heart wants what it wants — and she wants Wheels!

Is Tina still bitter and kind of unsettling?

Hell yeah… but things are looking up! She received offers from Blaine, Ryder and Sam to go to prom, all at the same time and she decided on ole Trouty Mouth. (Her reason? He was the “least gay and least asian.”) Any up for some Tinam?

Has Ryder forgiven Unique for “catfishing” him?

Unconfirmed. With everything else going on, that storyline wasn’t really picked up. We kind of got the feeling though that a lot of these plot points weren’t intended for this first episode back, but became necessary to compensate for the Finn story that could’ve been.

And that covers the first episode of season five! What a way to start!
