Google Just Acquired Some New Apps - And One Of Them Could Change The Way You Text!

google gets emu and directr 3
This sounds pretty cool!
Google just announced that it has acquired two new apps; Emu and Directr.
Directr is a movie-making app that is aimed at companies to make videos for social media, which Google is going to utilize over at YouTube.
Harmless.
Emu, on the other hand, is about to take over your lives!
We’re kidding. But the app’s functionality could allow Google to mess with your privacy.
You see, Emu is a chat-based app that interacts with what you’re talking about. For instance, if you mention that you’re going to the gym to a friend, Emu will pull up gyms in your area. Also, if you want to be reminded of a text you’ve gotten at a later time, you can push snooze on the text just like an alarm clock.
However, now that Google has that technology, the company could potentially sell ad space to businesses. Theoretically, if you texted a friend that you wanted to get pizza, a nearby pizza place could pay to be the ad that pops up.
We think it’s a rather cool function, but we do know that a lot of people are scared about their privacy.
Only time will tell if these latest purchases are going to push Google into Big Brother territory or not.
Or you could just ask Siri.
