Gwyneth Paltrow Cried After Hearing Ashley Graham’s Love Story!

Ashley Graham found true love where she least expected it — but only after realizing what she was doing wrong in the romance department.
The supermodel sat down with Gwyneth Paltrow for the Goop podcast this week where she opened up about the road that lead her to marry filmmaker Justin Ervin and why the couple waited until marriage to have sex.
But we should warn you: the story was so touching, it left Gwynny in tears. Okay, ready?
The 31-year-old started off by telling the actress about this “terrible guy” she was dating in her early 20s, who was “mentally, physically, emotionally abusive.” Graham stayed with the guy for two years, one of which she even hid the relationship, because she didn’t know her “worth.”

Once she finally decided to leave him, Graham was able to evaluate herself. Eventually, she found a big flaw in her romantic philosophy. She explained:

“I knew that I was a stronger woman for breaking up with him, and in feeling stronger for breaking up with him I was like, ‘What is it that I need to do to change myself so I don’t get back into that situation?’ …And in that ‘aha’ moment, I was like, my problem is I keep giving it up too soon, I keep having sex too soon with these guys.”

After having this epiphany, the model decided she wouldn’t have sex again until she was married. But there were other aspects of her life she still needed to clean up.
Due to a “little issue with some tequila” that led to her showing up at her agency “a little drunk,” Graham’s mom made her go to church. She admitted:

“My mom said, ‘rehab or church,’ and I was like, ‘I’m not an alcoholic, so I’ll just go to church.'”

So, Graham found herself volunteering at church on Sunday as an “elevator lady” — and who ends up walking in the elevator? Her future husband.

Graham explained to Paltrow that two men came in the elevator; one guy said to the other guy, “If you don’t talk to her I am.” She continued:

“And the next thing ya know, Justin, my husband, was the one who stayed in the elevator.”

The two ended up going on a coffee date, but it wasn’t true love from the start. He didn’t pay for the coffee, which Graham took as a red flag:

“So I was like, great, I have another cheap guy. And he said that a man always appreciates it when a woman attempts to grab her wallet. So I was through with him, girl, I erased his number, done.”

A month later, however, Graham saw Ervin at church again. He asked for a second chance, insisting that this time, he would definitely pay:

“He said, ‘I have been taken advantage of and I have had women use me for a steak dinner, I don’t want that, I’m looking for a wife.'”

After their second date, the pair became “inseparable.” As it turns out, they had a lot more in common than they thought:

“And he and I did not break my rule, and his rule as well, because I didn’t know that he was also trying to wait until he was married to have sex as well.”

The two have been married for eight years. After hearing the couple’s love story, Paltrow gave Graham the ultimate compliment: her tears.
She told the guest:

“I have to tell you, in all my podcasts this is the only time I’ve cried since Oprah.”

An honor well deserved.
