How Dave Coulier’s Full House Co-Stars Learned About His Devastating Cancer Diagnosis

How Dave Coulier’s Full House Co-Stars Learned About His Devastating Cancer Diagnosis

Dave Coulier is opening up about how the Full House cast learned about his cancer diagnosis.

The beloved Uncle Joey revealed the heartbreaking news on Wednesday he was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma last month. He’s already tackling it with chemo and the support of his loved ones —  including the Full House crew.

In an interview with People, he revealed he broke the news to his castmates himself, all at once. The group text included co-stars John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber aka Kimmy Gibbler, and Scott Weigner who played Steve, as well as show creator Jeff Franklin. He told the outlet:

“I didn’t want them to hear it from someone else, so I sent a text message out.”

Good for him. After being so close with him for nearly 40 years, it would be a shame if they learned about it online.

Dave noted their responses were “immediate” — and SO supportive:

“It was just this outpouring of, ‘I will be there. You just name the time, and I know you’re in great hands with Mel, but what can we do?’ It really is overwhelming the love that we have for each other. We’ve been there for so many years for each other and it’s pretty remarkable.”

So sweet.

The 65-year-old told the outlet that in the wake of Bob Saget’s tragic death in 2022, they all value their time together a whole lot more:

“I think we value not only our lives together, but we value our lives. We value those good times and the positive moments that we’ve gotten to share. And I think that that spills over to other people, and it’s just positive. There’s not many negatives when I’m with that group of people. It’s really just laughter and positivity, and we appreciate so much what we have in our lives and the people around us.”

We love that. He even noted Stamos is coming to visit him amid his chemo treatments:

“I can’t wait for him to visit, Nov. 15, I get a chemo treatment. Nov. 16, John’s going to be here.”

And apparently, Uncle Jesse is leaving the plans open:

“He goes, ‘If you want to just sleep, I’ll just sit by you or if you want to listen to music or just talk, whatever.’ And I’m just like, ‘Wow. That’s like a brother. That’s just truly a brother.’”

Awww! They may not have even been real brothers on the show… but their IRL love is so strong. They really are a family.
