UPDATE, 2:42 p.m. ET — Law enforcement sources are apparently now confirming that Epstein was actually taken OFF suicide watch at some point between July 23 and today. According to TMZ, medical professionals met with Epstein after his first suicide attempt and apparently found him well enough to be sent back to his cell “without extra eyes on him.” Ummm… really?!
Also, Attorney General William Barr just spoke out about Epstein’s death, saying (below):
“Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”

The conspiracy theorists are out in full force with this one…
Jeffrey Epstein, the well-connected billionaire accused of horrific sex crimes and trafficking allegations against scores of underage girls, apparently hanged himself in a Manhattan jail on Saturday morning. The 66-year-old had been on 24-hour suicide watch, in a lighted room with non-stop CCTV camera footage and round-the-clock personal surveillance, but all to no avail…

As we’ve been reporting, Epstein (pictured in the inset, above) had been in the news because of a bombshell sex scandal reportedly involving a significant number of extremely high-profile, very well-connected men all around the world. His alleged counterparts allegedly included high-profile politicians (ahem) and royal family members, as well as many other extremely rich and well-connected individuals… but now, well, whatever revelations could come from that may be lost, or altered, forever.
The scandal saw its biggest development come just yesterday, when Prince Andrew and many other high-profile men were named in newly-released docs from Epstein. The names included a Senator and a former Cabinet member as well, though all have denied ever being involved in Epstein’s alleged sexual exploits. Still, the doc read like a bombshell and appeared to be the first step in unraveling a major scandal — and now, it appears its future may be up in the air.
As for Epstein, he had been in jail awaiting trial on sex trafficking and conspiracy charges. A guilty verdict could’ve landed him up to 45 years in jail, with some of his reported victims in the allegation as young as 14 years old at the time of his alleged horrific sex offenses.
It’s interesting, though… as TMZ reports, Epstein had been in the Special Housing Unit Suicide Watch facility at the time of his death, where “guards are to maintain the inmate under direct, continuous observation,” all 24 hours, each and every day. The lights in the unit never turn off, either, so this situation is a bit odd… to say the least.
Conspiracy Time?
The “Hillary Clinton killed him” stuff floating around social media right now is garbage, but it is interesting to ponder the conspiracy theories floating around about Epstein’s death, especially while on suicide watch. Obviously, the timing and manner of his death — just as he was beginning to name the names of those rich and powerful — is certainly an eye-opener.

Yet while social media was having some fun with this one and accusing a variety of high-profile people of a grand conspiracy, there is a sad part here: the scores of female victims who will now never see justice because of Epstein’s death. To that end, the law enforcement community is hopefully mad as hell, because an alleged pedophile apparently just got what he wanted out of the whole deal and then took the easy way out. Or something…
