What Gender Pay Gap? Jennifer Lawrence Is This Year's Highest-Paid Oscar Nominee!

no title
Sorry, boys!
Last year, Jennifer Lawrence sparked an ongoing discussion on Hollywood’s gender pay gap after penning a powerful essay on the subject on Lenny Letter.
And while this year’s Oscars is expected to shine a light on the notable lack of minority representation in its nominees, J.Law is the ray of hope that the entertainment biz is starting to make a positive shift in pay equality.
The actress was nominated for Best Lead Actress playing the titular role in David O. Russell‘s Joy, which makes Lawrence the youngest person to rack up four Academy Award nominations — but that’s not all she’s accomplished!

According to Forbes, the 25-year-old is this year’s highest paid Oscar nominee with an estimated $52 million banked last year!
Thanks to paychecks from the Hunger Games trilogy, Joy, and a sweet Dior contract, J.Law earned more last year than any of her fellow nominees — male or female, white or whiter!
But the actress’ lucrative year is far from the norm! Not a single one of the other female nominees in either acting category earned enough dough ($6 million cut off) to make the cut for Forbes’ Highest-Paid Actress ranking — which J.Law topped, naturally.
The last actress to pull a similar feat was Sandra Bullock, who was nominated for Gravity at the 2014 Oscars then topped Forbes 2014 list after banking $51 million that year!
So, even if Lawrence doesn’t take home a trophy this year, we have a feeling she’ll still be pretty content!
