Why in the hell did they buy this place?!? Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck spent an astronomical amount of money on a Beverly Hills mansion that essentially ruined their marriage… and now it turns out NEITHER of them even liked the place. HUH?!
We’ve been hearing for weeks that the Argo star “never liked” the massive marital home he shared with his estranged wife. They bought it last year, and it was supposedly the beginning of the end. Reports have been making it sound like Ben caved and let J.Lo buy her dream home — a home that “wasn’t what he wanted or who he is.” But now Jennifer’s camp is arguing otherwise!

Just weeks after the divorce filing, sources told People on Thursday that the singer was never a fan of the big pad either, claiming:
“The $68 million mansion was Ben’s idea and a major compromise for her.”
Hold on: it was “Ben’s idea”?? WHAT?!
The insider acknowledged that the actress agreed to buy the place because the 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom home had more than enough space for their blended family, including Ben’s three kids with Jennifer Garner, Violet, 18, Fin, 15 and Samuel, 12, and Jennifer’s twins with Marc Anthony, Max and Emme, 16. With that many rooms and nearly 40,000 sq. ft., there was certainly NO shortage of space for them all — not to mention all the other amenities they got! The source added:
“She agreed to it because of its spacious layout, accommodating both their families, a gym and a pickleball court, office space, plus it has two private entrances.”
But at the end of the day, it wasn’t the Shotgun Wedding lead’s dream home, the confidant emphasized:
“She loves the romantic, Spanish, European vibe.”
Very different from the modern style of the home they ultimately picked. Wow.

FWIW, Ben’s camp hit back at this. Another insider told the outlet that it also wasn’t the ideal purchase for him, mostly because it was so far from his ex-wife’s home in Brentwood, where he rented for several months as his split from Lopez was unfolding. The source dished:
“His life’s in Brentwood. His kids live there. It was such a pain and time consuming for Ben to navigate traffic from their house. He never liked it.”
Hmm…
Supporting the theory that he never liked the distance from his kids, he purchased a Pacific Palisades $20.5 million mansion in July, which is slightly closer than Beverly Hills. The Let’s Get Loud singer is still looking for a new home, as the exes struggle to offload the shared mansion. It’s gotta feel extra s**tty if neither of ’em ever like the place to begin with!
But are y’all buying this? We mean, one of them must have liked the house enough to convince the other to buy it, right? They wouldn’t both just settle for no reason, would they? Sound OFF (below)!
