You’ll recall seeing footage in the Netflix series of John, Joe, and the late Travis Maldonado‘s wedding ceremony, which took place one year prior to same-sex marriage being legalized in the United States. Now, Finlay is sharing that he and Mr. Exotic never formally tied the knot.

It was shared in the show that John did end up leaving Joe for a woman who also worked at Garold Wayne Exotic Animal Memorial Park, and now we’re getting more details! In a recent episode of Lights Out Lo-Fi Chats with David Spade, Finlay shared:

“Right now I have a fiancé. But just to clear the record, me and Joe were never legally married. Ever.”

Inneresting!!

He added:

“The girl I ran off with, we had a kid, we spent three years together. We never got engaged, never got married, anything like that.”

John seems super happy with where he’s at right now, and will be “married soon” to the special someone in his life. As for the “wedding,” which took place in 2014, he shared:

“We weren’t really great friends, but we were friends.”

When asked by Spade if he got along with Maldonado to keep the peace and keep Joe happy, he responded:

“Yeah, pretty much.”

Meanwhile, Maldonado-Passage’s current (legal) husband Dillon Passage, is also chatting about his relationship with the controversial star! Passage looked back at the early days when they met via Grindr:

“Oh god, I think it was like, a little over two weeks [since we first met]? We definitely jumped the gun [on getting married], I can say that. But I’m not ashamed of it whatsoever … but I do love Joe. He’s been there for me through my darkest times. I’m not just gonna dip out and abandon him when he needs me most.”

Dillon continued, explaining to Andy Cohen:

“He’s a really good guy. And, um, you know, he may have made some sketchy decisions. And I know he regrets them. But his intentions are really good at heart. And he would do anything to help anybody in need.”
