Kathy Griffin Did NOT Have Coronavirus -- Details On What Actually Landed Her In The Hospital!

Kathy Griffin reveals she had an abdominal infection after being treated in COVID-19 isolation ward.

Kathy Griffin is sharing a health update following her recent hospitalization in a COVID-19 isolation ward.

Earlier this week, the 59-year-old comedian sought medical attention after coming down with “unbearably painful” symptoms associated with the novel coronavirus. Despite feeling ill and making a formal request, the star reportedly was unable to get tested.

Now, Kathy is speaking out to confirm she was diagnosed with an abdominal infection and did NOT have the coronavirus. Phew!

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times, Griffin said she started feeling sick after coming back from a trip to Mexico with her husband Randy Bick. She claims they tried to abide by the recommended 14-day incubation period after travel just in case they had contracted the virus — but about 6 days in, she couldn’t handle the pain:

“We were both nervous because we were still in the incubation period after returning from Mexico, but also we had not left the house in days. We’d been hearing about a 14-day incubation period [for the coronavirus]. So for me to get what felt like food poisoning after six days, I thought, OK, is this a coincidence or what?”

That’s when she finally went to the ER and documented her experience in the designated COVID-19 urgent care area:

In her post, Kathy slammed Donald Trump‘s claims about testing rates in the US and flat-out called him a liar. While she had much nicer things to say about the people who took care of her at the hospital, she did tell the outlet the facility seemed grossly underprepared:

“Frankly, when they said the corona ward, I thought I would be walking into the white suits with blue-taped ceilings, everything. I kind of expected them to put me in a shower room and all that – but as recently as [Tuesday], there’s no cavalry that’s coming in handing out millions of [test] swabs.”

She continued, explaining why she ultimately never got tested for the virus:

“The doctor was going through the boxes and going through the boxes [on a form] and she kept saying, like, ‘Ugh, because of the lungs, the fever and the kind of cough … you don’t meet the CDC requirements.'”

The My Life On the D-List star added:

“I just think it’s so obvious that those tests have to be accessible to everybody. A lot of people, when they hear the president saying everyone who needs a test should get one, then shouldn’t have to then go to a hospital where, frankly, they may be exposing themselves or exposing others.”

She does make a valid point; as the amount of confirmed cases in the US continues to rise, so does the overall conversation about test kit availability.

Thankfully, Griffin added she’s currently on the mend and being treated with medication for her abdominal infection. This situation could’ve been far worse if she actually had the virus and/or got exposed to it during her hospital stay. Based on her firsthand account, she likely wouldn’t even be able to get tested for it after the fact, anyway.

Regardless, we wish her a healthy and speedy recovery!
