Pregnant Katy Perry Opens Up About Handling 'Waves Of Depression' Amid Pandemic

katy perry opens up about depression during coronavirus

The devastation of what’s going on in the world is a lot to handle for anyone, celebs included.

Katy Perry hasn’t shied away from opening up about what life has been like while pregnant amid the coronavirus pandemic, but got brutally honest on Twitter about how she’s been feeling as of late.

She tweeted on Tuesday:

“sometimes i don’t know what’s worse trying to avoid the virus or the waves of depression that come with this new norm”

Days earlier, the American Idol judge joined SHEIN‘s Together livestream event on Saturday, which raised funds for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (WHO).

The 35-year-old shared at the time that she has about “five good days,” but finds herself in tears the rest of the week:

“I cry when I look down at my toes or I cry when just doing simple tasks.”

She continued:

“I think a lot of that is hormonal and I’m not used to being around so many people all in a confined [or] a small space for so long. I’m used to going [out] all the time. There is not really anywhere to go besides my car. So I go to my car a lot. That is my safe space.”

Previously, the Grammy nominee spoke about one of the plus sides to being home:

“I think, in a weird way, being on lockdown has forced me to slow down—which is probably, in turn, really good while I’m growing a child. And it’s forced me to find even more balance. Because, when I have a child, I will still be at home, basically, and I’m not used to that. I’m used to, like, jet setting everywhere.”

Obviously, Katy and Orlando Bloom have something very special to look forward to, which we’re sure is helping them push through the difficult times. An insider shared with E! News about how Miz Perry is prepping for her little girl:

“They are getting excited and starting to decorate the nursery. They had wanted to have a baby shower but feel it’s going to be safer to do something after the baby arrives and see where things are then.”

Smart move!! The source added:

“They know they will do some sort of celebration when the time is right. Katy is getting bigger by the day and it’s all starting to feel very real. They can’t wait.”

Stay strong, Katy. We’re all in this together!
