Are we nearing the end of Kelly Clarkson‘s reign on daytime TV?
As we’ve been reporting, the American Idol alum missed a few episodes of her eponymous The Kelly Clarkson Show back in March. From what we’ve heard, it was an abrupt and confusing time for everyone involved, and we still haven’t gotten a clear answer as to what really happened. At the time it was said to be a “family matter” — but regardless, Kelly has been sounding more and more done with the show altogether.
A new source for PageSix is giving a bit more info about the situation. On Saturday, the industry insider who’s worked close with the songstress said:
“This has all been very painful for her. The difficulty is that Kelly, like all of us, wants to be liked, and she had to deal with this new moment in her life. She knew she had to step down for a minute.”
Whoa. So was the situation something that would make her fans not like her anymore?? The source went on to cryptically say the Since U Been Gone hitmaker has been “humbled” by whatever went down:
“She has her priorities, and her family comes first, but I think she’s been humbled by the whole situation… what has happened has given her a moment of clarity, I think.”
Inneresting. WHAT HAPPENED?!?

A friend of Kelly’s also spoke to the outlet. Though they wouldn’t spill it all, they did tease the situation made it easier for her to get over her ex Brandon Blackstock:
“Kelly grew up without a father, and she had an incredible love story with Brandon. She is a compassionate and caring person, and what has happened [recently] has helped her to move beyond the divorce.”
The first insider also mentioned Brandon, saying even though their divorce was messy, Kelly always appreciated what he’d done for her career:
“The irony is that he’s had a very positive influence on her life; he made these phenomenal deals for her, and she wouldn’t be here without him. But it’s hard to be a manager and a husband. At the time, she greatly appreciated what he had done for her career.”
So it had something to do with her ex… Huh. They also said Kelly is “totally invested” in all of her work:
“She is immensely talented and good at what she does, but she definitely had opinions about the music she sang, the music her contestants sang, she kept in touch with every single contestant, she took it very seriously, she had a relationship with each of them. She is totally invested, whether it was wardrobe or music or promo.”
Oof. They make it sound like she’s a total workaholic. Could this have something to do with those rumors her crew were “walking on eggshells” around her?
With all this mysterious business going on behind-the-scenes, it just might be the perfect time for the Catch My Breath singer to switch things up, though:
“She knows her limits, even on The Voice, when she was working so hard, she knew when she needed a refresh – that’s what you’re seeing now. She is a very feeling, sensitive person, as you see on the talk show, and that’s both in her personal and professional life.”
It may even just be Kelly would rather be a musician than a TV host, too! The insider added:
“There is a price to pay and sometimes it sucks…people care about Kelly, they feel that she’s their star, and that’s the cross she must bear. But I think she’s found her peace and is making sense of her world, and the events in her life.”
And that peace may not include being a TV star after all?
A lot to take in. What do U think about all this, Perezcious readers? Let us know (below).
