Kim Zolciak Clarifies Her Remarks On Racism -- Defends That Her Words Were 'Edited Out Of Context'!

kim zolciak addresses remarks on racism
Kim Zolciak-Biermann is doing some damage control.
As you surely know, the Real Housewives of Atlanta veteran has faced some serious backlash following her remarks on racism during a recent reunion episode. After a tense showdown with nemesis NeNe Leakes, who has accused the mother of six of being racist, an emotional Kim defended herself by seemingly claiming that racism wasn’t “all that real” before social media.

Understandably, many viewers and fans reacted strongly to this sentiment, leaving the Don’t Be Tardy star in the hot seat. Thankfully, the Bravolebrity has since taken to Instagram to clarify her comment and to (once again) deny being a racist.
The 39-year-old started off her social media missive by noting that her words were “edited out of context,” but she was sorry to those who were “confused and offended” by the remark. She wrote:

“During the last RHOA Reunion episode, I made a comment that confused and offended people. I sincerely apologize. Edited out of context, I understand why my remark angered people.”

She went on to acknowledge that she’s well aware of the United States’ long history with racism. However, per Kim, she herself is in no way a racist. The TV personality continued:

“Racism is a sad reality in the United States. It has been prevalent throughout our country’s history. Let me be very clear, I do NOT support, tolerate or put up with any form of racism, hate or other discrimination. My love for ALL people runs deep – I am open to all and always have been.”

Glad to hear it. As for her seemingly ignorant comment, Kim says she was “heartbroken” when she watched the damning RHOA reunion episode footage. In regards to what she really said, Zolciak-Biermann explained:

“I was heartbroken when I watched the last few minutes of the episode and saw how my words were taken out of context. My comment that seemingly ‘racism didn’t exist 10 years ago’ was made as part of a larger, emotional 45-minute conversation about how, sadly, social media has become a hub for hate. Immediately following my confusing comment, I also said that ‘it’s not as real as it is now’ referring to the power of social media. But those remarks didn’t make the show.”

We imagine Kim isn’t very happy with Andy Cohen or Bravo right now. We mean, Kim HAS stopped filming Don’t Be Tardy
On how social media has empowered racism in this country, Kim concluded:

“I believe that social media has made a centuries-old issue more real. Before social media, the public simply observed the news. Now, the public actively participates and has an opportunity to take action ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ in real time. But this is a double edged sword. Now, when false accusations are made, they are amplified by online platforms regardless of their merit. This wasn’t the case 10 years ago when I started on RHOA.
I truly pray that the people wishing horrible things on others, and on me, channel that energy into something positive. Our world would be a much better place if you do. I am committed to making this world a better place to live. I will continue to learn from, and be open to, ALL people.”

Interesting point. Be sure to take a look at Kim’s full statement for yourself (below).
