Kylie Jenner wants to attend the Oscars on Sunday night, but one major thing is reportedly holding her back.
Well, very tragically, two major things are holding her back. For one, as we’ve previously reported, the Life Of Kylie alum is mourning the sudden death of her beloved friend and hairstylist Jesus Guerrero. The 34-year-old Houston native died unexpectedly last weekend, leaving Kylie and the rest of his family, friends, and loved ones reeling with shock and grief.
But along with mourning her dear friend’s loss, there is another reason why the Kardashians star is struggling to find the strength to walk the red carpet at the Academy Awards along with her Best Actor nominated boyfriend Timothée Chalamet and sit for the show.

According to The US Sun, a source close to the KarJenner fam reports that while Kylie “does want to go to the Oscars” on Sunday, there is still a chance she might choose to bow out.
In addition to sadness over the heartbreaking situation surrounding Guerrero’s death, the other reason behind the Kylie Swim mogul’s hesitation has to do with severe anxiety. The insider explained:
“Kylie always has stage fright at the big Hollywood events. She gets really anxious about having to hold conversations about things she doesn’t know about, like the film industry and acting. It just makes her uncomfortable. She’s always battling that inferiority complex of, ‘they think I’m just trash TV.'”

The insider said Kylie is fearful even after all of her many years in the public eye that the rug will be “pulled out from under her” at an event like this — one involving A-list actors and filmmakers set in direct contrast to her reality TV upbringing. The source noted:
“There’s still a huge part of her that lives in fear of having that rug pulled out from under her, or people saying she doesn’t deserve to be somewhere like the Oscars. There is part of her that is worried that by appearing on the red carpet, she triggers some sort of ‘hate reaction’ from people who think she’s not entitled to be on the red carpet or with him.”
That’s so, so sad. We get that there’s going to be some inevitable pushback from scripted television and film folks against reality TV stars. It’s been that way since reality TV has been around. But the “hate reaction” stuff is rough. Ugh!
FWIW, Kylie did attend the BAFTAs with Timothée earlier this year — though she ended up skipping out on the SAG Awards this past Sunday. Of course, that SAG skip may have been just as much (or more, TBH) due to the heartbreak of Guerrero’s untimely death as it was due to any of Kylie’s anxieties or hangups about the award show scene.
Regardless, we know the mom of two has had a very rough time in the past when attending other high-profile award shows as her A-list boyfriend’s plus-one. So, we’ll just have to wait and see whether some of the more awkward and unfortunate moments from her difficult prior appearances at shows like this come back up this weekend… if she shows up, that is.
