David Letterman followed his opening-monologue jokes last night with a harsh critique of the way the Olympics official accused deceased luge competitor Nodar Kumaritashvili of making “a mistake.”
Letterman stated:
├óΓé¼┼ôA ├óΓé¼╦£mistake├óΓé¼Γäó? I just wonder if it had anything to do with those exposed steel girders├óΓé¼┬ª Don├óΓé¼Γäót blame the kid, for god├óΓé¼Γäós sake. He had said to his dad. ├óΓé¼╦£I think something├óΓé¼Γäós a little haywire here; I├óΓé¼Γäóm a little bit frightened about the track’…For them to say that he made a mistake, that just stinks.
“Why is it that they then repaired the track and covered up the girders and started [the race] from the wormen├óΓé¼Γäós starting point? You know what it is? It├óΓé¼Γäós hypocrisy, ladies and gentlemen.”
We have to agree with Dave! The official’s statements were insensitive about the tragic accident.
