Inside sources close to Robert “Joe” Halderman, the 48 Hours Mystery producer who blackmailed David Letterman for $2 mil last week, say the producer’s motivation was revenge! And not the $$$$$$!
Insiders say Halderman wanted to make Letterman “miserable” for sleeping with his girlfriend (at the time), Late Night employee Stephanie Birkitt.
The money was “ancillary” to Halderman – rather his intention was to destroy Letterman and Birkitt!
“He wants to hurt Letterman as much as he can — and he wanted to hurt the girl, too,” said the source.
Another insider shared the same sentiments: “It wasn’t about the money… He definitely doesn’t like Letterman.”
Childish!!!
Sure, it sucks that your girlfriend cheated on you, but extorting the guy she slept with is not the way to go about it!
