More reports are surfacing about Liam Payne’s final moments — specifically his final days with loved ones.
As we’ve been following, the One Direction alum tragically died in Buenos Aires, Argentina last week after jumping from his 4th story balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel. Investigators are still trying to piece together the circumstances leading up to his death. So far we know they’ve discovered the Teardrops singer was partying with two prostitutes in the hours before his death, and his hotel room was found in complete disarray. In photos circulating around social media, you can see a smashed TV, champagne, and drug paraphernalia scattered around the suite. As we now know he had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death, including cocaine, crack, and benzodiazepine, as well as “pink cocaine,” which is usually a mix of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA, and other drugs. So it’s clear he was in bad shape.
And even before that, he was said to be acting “aggressive” in the hotel lobby — and possibly in another hotel first, which he got kicked out of. It sounds like everything just spiraled out of control, with more partying and drugs not helping. And it all started after the late singer’s girlfriend left.
A source close to Kate Cassidy told People on Tuesday that this “erratic behavior” didn’t really kick in until after she left.

We know Liam and Kate spent the first half of October together in Argentina, going out and taking in the sights, seeing Niall Horan live — you can still see cute videos of their trip on Liam’s Snapchat. But when the vacay kept getting extended, Kate wanted to return home to her dog — something that reportedly upset Liam. They apparently got in a “heated” argument where he begged her to stay, but she made up her mind and bought herself a ticket to fly back to the US. And after that, Liam seemingly went off the rails. The source told People his “erratic behavior started ramping up” when he was left alone.
Liam reportedly checked into the CasaSur Palermo Hotel AFTER Kate left, and that’s where thing really got out of hand. At least one source blames local drug dealers at the hotel, saying they saw him as an easy target and “preyed upon” him for money.
Prior to these misadventures, he appeared to be in good shape with Kate. The source added:
“Like you could see from the Snapchat videos, he was a different person around her.”
So sad. This must all be so difficult for Kate. From one of her final interactions with Liam being an argument, to the “huge betrayal” of seeing the news he was partying with girls from an escort site. It’s difficult for us to wrap out minds around it, so we can’t even begin to imagine how hard it is for her. No one should have to feel like they have to constantly monitor their partner to prevent them from making horrible choices… no matter what kind of demons they’re fighting. That’s just not fair at all.
