FitPerez reader Reggie has a basic boxing question for the one and only Alex Brenes, asking:
Hi Alex,
What is the lightest weight division in professional boxing?
According to Alex:
What’s up Reggie! Straw weight, even below fly weight, seems almost impossible for anybody (who is not a model) to weigh this little but alot of asians and latin american countries have little guys and ladies that kick butt. Straw weight or mini fly weight, 105 lbs/48kg, common in the amateurs but newer in the pros, started in 1987 in pro boxing and I fought in it for 4 years when I was an amateur back in Costa Rica.
